The players, witll now enjoy time with family, and among other things, golfing! Then they will "lace 'em up" again for another shot at the Cup.

STAND OUTS

The most impressive performances came from the rookies this year in the playoffs without a doubt, Villie Lieno, and Antti Niemi. Lieno, Blackhawks, was a disappointing drop from the Red Wings, but an impressive pick up for the Flyers, which always makes the GM look good. On the other hand, Dave Dombrowski, GM for the Wings, looks like he had no idea what Lieno's potential could have been here for the Wings.

Niemi, Blackhawks, was definately one of the most impressive rookie goalie most of us has ever seen! Allong with Jimmy Howard carrying the Wings all season, and leading them in the playoffs, the only thing he couldn't do was win the Cup, which makes his remarkable story, nothing. Which is sad because, in the modern NHL era, there has never been a rookie goalie, nonetheless a back up, to replace the starter and lead a team all year, and then into the playoffs, unheard of with the exception of Tom Brady in the NFL.

thats all for now, more updates, and thoughts to come.

Fraser High School Boys Varsity Swimming

BIG SPLASH

The Fraser High School Boys Varsity Swim Team is off to an average start so far this season, but looks to capitalize on their back to back wins on the road against Utica, and De La Salle. Last year the boys started strong placing first at Titan Relay's, and had a fairly good season, finishing 3rd in the MAC-White. This year with a new coach, and two new trainers, the Ramblers are looking mighty tough when it comes to swimming.

NEW COACH

Last year the Ramblers hired coach Chris Lutz, a swimmer for Oakland University who also took place in the Olympic Time Trials in 2008. Lutz was proven a better swimmer than coach when he was fired not even two months into his new position at FHS. This year Wayne State grad and Coach Rob Wingert, along with Michigan Alumnus, and FHS record holder Margret Czerwinski, and Wayne State student and FHS record holder John Hoopingarner, the Ramblers are in better shape than last year and hope that even with the loss of last years stars such as Ryan Rutherford, Zach Holloway, John Hoopingarner, and Scott Prebie, the Ramblers will still be able to finish higher than last year.

ADVERSITY

Not only is it one of Coach Wingerts favorite words, but it has been what the Ramblers have had thrust upon them. One of their strongest sophomore swimmers Nick Scruto has been sidelined with a season ending shoulder injury. Also, seniors Kelly Schafer, and Dane McNellis are fighting to stay on the team as well. Schafer, who's had to fight a demanding work schedual to make practices tries his best but can't make enough practices to get into top shape. McNellis has been fighting back problems for the better part of 3 or so months. McNellis is one of the teams only four butterfly swimmers. In this adversity, the team has pushed out two wins in a row with the help of Senior Joey Ball, Junior Mason Thaxton and the depth of the team shown by their sophomore swimmers like J.J. Politis, Ryan Birko, Jake Gondek, Justin Plunket, and Dylan Thrift. There is no doubt that in the next two years, these five sophomores will be tearing it up.... i mean, splashing it up in the pool, not to mention their freshman swimmer Brandon Betts that already swims his 50 Freestyle in 26.63 seconds! thats 0.99 Seconds over county time!

With a promising team like this, its no doubt that Fraser will have a strong team not only this year, but in the years to come as well.

Fraser High School Girls Varsity Swim Team 2009

Fraser High School Girls sports have always been held to high expectations with a division A basketball team, a state championship worthy volleyball team, and a swim team that always dominates.
Just last week Danielle Vallier broke the 200IM varsity record, and allowed the ramblers to continue their success in their league. This record followed with wins over L'Anse Creuse Central and Dakota High school to win their first ever league championship.
"Last night we defeated Dakota to win our first ever League Championship in the history of Fraser Girls swimming. In order to accomplish this we had to defeat L'Anse Creuse, the county meet champions from this year and Dakota who also finished in front of us at the county meet. It was a total team effort and was great to watch how hard these girls competed. The Rambler Swim and Dive women representeed our school with the utmost sportsmanship and class be proud of them," said Dave Nowinski head coach of the FHS swim team.

There will be a follow up on this post within the next week. thank you for all (if any) who read. i appreciate it.

My School Paper

Make sure you check out my school newspaper The Flash at http://my.hsj.org/Schools/Newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/newspaperid/428/Default.aspx

its really awesome and im sure you'll like it!

Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup Rematch 2009

Rematch For Sure, Repeat?
There is no doubt in my mind that the Pens, and the wings will go at least six games this year, but who will have the advantage. when you really think about it, these teams match up so well it's almost scary.... actually, there isn't anyting scary about it. but exciting, yes! I'm now going to rundown the matchup, who vs. who, what vs. what, and who will win the series.
Captains
The Wings have undoubtedly the best Captain, and Defenseman in the world, Nicklas Lidstrom. Although, the Pens have Sydney Crosby, one of the best forwards in the world. Here, you have to take experience, and Defense to be Detroit's best offense, and they get this one.
Special Teams
This one is really unpredictable, Detroit's PK can be hot, or cold, but their Power Play is on fire, same with the Pens. Their PK is average, but at times can be stellar. Look for the team with the most five on five goals to win the series.
Depth
Red Wings, unchallenged. Wings have the advantage because Hosa, Zetterburg, and Datsyuk, aren't the only ones scoring, they have Derek Meech, Johan Franzen, Mikal Samuelson, Jiri Hudler, And the red hot Dan Cleary. when you look at who's scoring the goals for Pittsburgh, its always Malken, and Crosby. Detroit has four lines that can strike at any time, Pittsburgh has two. I don't know about you guys, but Detroit definately has the advantage
Goaltending
Chris Osgoods expirence vs. the precision and energy of the five year net minder Marc-Andr'e Fleury. Fleury has been excelent in this years playoffs, and was outstanding in last years finals. Osgood has his games. If he stays solid, the Wings win, but because of his uncertainty, i have to give this one to the Penguins.
Champion
Given the above, I really have to go with the Wings in six. But don't count out those Penguins, they are mean and they didn't make it all the way to the finals to just sit back and roll over. They are gonna come out of the gate looking for blood.
